How to download your DNA file

You only need the raw DNA data file — not your ancestry results from the platform. This is a plain text file with millions of genetic markers.

DNAncestry analyses your file entirely within your browser. The raw DNA file is never uploaded to our servers. Only the final results are optionally saved if you have a Pro account.

  1. 1Go to myheritage.com and log in to your account
  2. 2Click DNA in the top navigation menu
  3. 3Click Manage DNA kits
  4. 4Click the three dots (⋯) next to your kit → Download raw DNA data
  5. 5Confirm your identity via email
  6. 6Download the .zip file and extract it — upload the .csv file to DNAncestry
💡 MyHeritage raw data is a .csv file with about 700,000 markers.

  1. 1Go to 23andme.com and log in
  2. 2Click your name (top right) → Settings
  3. 3Scroll down to 23andMe Data section
  4. 4Click Download Raw Data
  5. 5Select All DNA data and confirm via email
  6. 6Download and extract the .zip — upload the .txt file to DNAncestry
💡 23andMe v5 chip contains ~640,000 markers including Y-chromosome SNPs for haplogroup detection.

  4. 4Scroll to Download DNA Data
  5. 5Confirm via email and download the .zip
  6. 6Extract and upload the .txt file to DNAncestry

  4. 4Click Download Raw Data
  5. 5Choose Build 37 format
  6. 6Download and upload the .csv file to DNAncestry
